WARNING: Muzzleloader Owners Beware!

Roberts Wilson, P.A. | December 10, 2017

Are you a Muzzelloader owner.  Savage Arms has been sued multiple times due to exploding Muzzleloader barrels and has settled several suits with confidential settlements.  The particular model involved is a Savage 10 ML-II that has been discontinued.  However, the company continues to claim the weapon is safe when used properly.  To learn more, check out this article from the AP which was published by MassLive.

If you or someone you know is injured by a gun due to accidental discharge or spontaneous discharge or other malfunction of a firearm, be sure to contact an attorney immediately and preserve all evidence as quickly as possible.  If evidence is lost it can not be inspected by an expert.  If evidence is lost, any claim you have could be in jeopardy.

As every hunter knows, there are numerous ways to get hurt out there.  Always Practice Gun Safety!!  What every hunter may not know is that there are numerous ways for a victim of a shooting or hunting accident to recover compensation from an at-fault party.  Hunting accidents can be covered by home owners insurance, a manufacturer’s insurance or other liability policy that might provide coverage.  A competent attorney will investigate a hunting accident or gun failure case and advise you or your loved ones what to do next.

You do not always have to file a lawsuit in hunting accident cases.  Often times, there are families and friends involved and no one wants to have to do file a lawsuit if it can be avoided.  Bringing a lawyer in early can often help you avoid an uncomfortable lawsuit by dealing directly with an at-fault party’s insurance company and negotiating a settlement instead of suing somone.   No lawyer can make you file a suit.  This is always the client’s decision.

Some of the types of incidents we see involving hunters are as follows:

  • Boating Accidents
  • Gun Malfunctions
  • Deer Stand Failures
  • Equipment Failures
  • Motor Vehicle Wrecks
  • Compound Bow Failure
  • Winch Injuries
  • Falls from Climbing Stands
  • Accidental Shootings
  • Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle
  • Failure of Safety Equipment (deer stand harness)

The list goes on and on.  If you or a loved one have suffered an injury while hunting, call Roberts Wilson, P.A. at 662-533-9111 and we can assist you in evaluating any injury case.

Be Safe Out There!!
