Hip Replacement Problems

When Hip Replacements fail, the results to the patient can be costly and painful.  Often, the only way to fix the problem is having a corrective surgery performed.  These additional surgeries expose the patient to additional risks and stress which can sometimes lead to death.  And there are some folks who are not even able to have the corrective surgery due to concerns about the person’s ability to tolerate surgery.  These folks are forced to “just live with the pain” caused by the defective hip implant.

Unfortunately, the news about Hip Implants seems to be getting worse as more data becomes available about the side effects and failure rates of these popular medical devices.  This recent New York Times article stated that “The Food and Drug Administration responded to mounting concerns about the safety of metal-on-metal hip implants on Thursday, saying it would subject the devices to a two-day expert review that could lead to new standards.”

Patients who have had a Hip Replacement fail or malfunction, may be entitled to money damages, including but not limited to the following:

  • The Cost of Corrective Surgery
  • Lost Wages
  • Physical Therapy
  • Pain and Suffering
  • Cost of Medications to Treat Infection
  • Wrongful Death Benefits
