Biloxi Toddler Hospitalized After Fall from 3rd Story Window
A young girl fell from the third-floor window of an apartment complex in Biloxi on Monday, where she was staying with a relative while her family was at work.
Three-year-old Alyssia Lunstrum was rushed to the Ocean Springs Hospital, and then transferred to the USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital. The child is suffering a brain bleed, a broken bone in her neck, a broken shoulder blade, broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung.
Though Alyssia was released from intensive care on Wednesday, and is stable, her doctors predict that she will be in pain for a very long time and have a long road to recovery.
This tragic incident could have been avoided. And, it likely occurred due to someone’s carelessness. Medical bills and other harms and losses will be enormous in this situation, and the family may have avenues of recovery they are not aware of to help with expenses and losses.
Things an attorney would investigate in a case like this include but are not limited to the following:
- Landlord Liability – For failure to follow building codes or safety measures
- Daycare Liability – Negligent oversight of the child or children
- Window Manufacturer – Negligent or defective manufacturing of the window
- Construction liability – Negligent installation of the windows that caused a malfunction of the window.
Either way, this child and her family has suffered greatly and should be compensated if someone is responsible for the injury.
